The Outer Banks SPCA operates Dare County Animal Care Services. This Department is currently providing services to the following areas:

Dare County provides all animal related services including:

animal welfare complaints or concerns

animal cruelty investigation and charges
-
public nuisance issues

animal to human bites
-
calls regarding injured or stray dogs or cats.

The Kill Devil Hills Police Department has an animal control department and impoundment shelter that serves the incorporated town of Kill Devil Hills. To reach the Kill Devil Hills animal control department please call 252-480-4047 or to visit their website.
Operating Hours
Dare County Animal Care Services normal operating hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to to 4:30pm.
The department provides reduced after hours emergency services on weekdays from 4:30 pm to 8:30 am. The department operates these same services on weekends and holidays.
Surrender Services
The Outer Banks SPCA accepts animals from anywhere within Dare County, but stray animals in Kill Devil Hills must first be taken to the holding facility there. To contact that facility please call 252-480-4047.
